Terms of Service

Last updated: 8 October 2026

1. The service

PlateScout organises publicly available and imported DVLA auction information, ranks registrations against your search terms, and provides optional alerts. PlateScout is an independent search tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), DVLA Personalised Registrations or the Department for Transport, and it is not an auctioneer or registration dealer.

2. Accounts

You must provide accurate account information, keep access credentials secure and notify us if you believe the account has been compromised. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account. You must be at least 18 to buy a paid membership.

3. Auction information

Auction dates, availability, prices and results can change or be incomplete. A match score is an aid, not a guarantee that a registration is suitable for your search term or intended use. Historic hammer prices and any future estimate are informational only. Verify every registration, fee, auction rule and final price on the official DVLA service before bidding or spending money.

4. Memberships and payments

Paid memberships renew at the interval and price shown during Stripe Checkout until cancelled. Stripe handles payment details. Paid features may pause after a failed payment or when a subscription ends. You can manage an active Stripe membership through the customer portal. Statutory cancellation and refund rights are not limited by these terms.

5. Acceptable use

Do not interfere with the service, bypass limits, probe other users’ data, automate abusive traffic, resell protected access, upload malicious material or use the service unlawfully. Manual searches are for normal individual use; automated access requires written agreement.

6. Availability

We aim to keep the service useful and current but do not promise uninterrupted availability or that every auction, lot, match, email or historic result will be present. Maintenance, upstream website changes and third-party outages may affect the service.

7. Liability

Nothing excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded. Subject to that, PlateScout is not responsible for bids, purchases, missed lots, decisions based on a match score, or losses caused by inaccurate third-party auction information. Consumer rights remain unaffected.

8. Ending use

You may stop using the service, cancel a paid membership through the billing portal and request account deletion. We may restrict accounts that materially breach these terms, while preserving access required by law or to resolve billing and security issues.

9. Changes and contact

Material changes will be dated here and, where appropriate, communicated through the account or email. Questions can be sent to support@platescout.co.uk.
